Why Working With An Expert Makes Things Stress Free...

Since starting to work with us, our retained clients are seeing their businesses and themselves appearing in national and international titles.

Sometimes though, we might help someone with a PR Strategy Session and they decide they would like to look after their own PR. Armed with their story, which is written for them, and suggestions of feature ideas and top PR Tips, they’re in a great position to be able to do this.

We are, of course, always here afterwards to offer advice if they get stuck.

I should mention that a lot of success in PR is down to relationships. And when you have been working with Journalists for more than a decade, those relationships have been built over time.

So sometimes you can have a good story but it might not cut through in quite the way that you would hope. Or, you might complete an interview but the outcome might not be quite what you had hoped for either.

For instance, you could feel as if you’ve been misquoted, or there are factual errors in the piece and you don’t know what to do about it.

This is why I would always recommend working with a PR professional who can help you navigate everything and prepare you for any interview beforehand so you’re not caught off guard. Always know in advance what you’re looking to get from each interview and what you will be highlighting too.

And also know that if you have a story that is sensitive, you’re happy with what you’re sharing and how much you’re sharing too. It’s better to say too little than too much and later regret it.

With an in-depth knowledge of the media comes an understanding of what you can and can’t do and how you can get things changed, especially if it’s a factual inaccuracy.

But, it will prove much harder to retract something that you have said, so that’s why preparation in advance is key.

At the end of the day, if you have a new product or launch that you’re looking to highlight, you absolutely can secure your own media and raise that vital awareness that you’re after. But knowing some PR tips to get you ahead of the game, and understanding what Journalists are after, is invaluable if you’re planning to go down this path.

If, of course, you would like to understand more, then there are still some spaces on our PR Workshop on Tuesday 4th June. For more details find out more HERE
